The truth is, we’re just two run-of-the mill Texans. People look at us like we’re crazy when we tell them that we’re leaving our jobs to travel for a year, but people talk all the time about how they wish they had traveled more or seen the world when they were younger. It’s just that we’re actually doing it.
Since we met in college about eight years ago, we’ve been taking road trips, trekking around the world, and volunteering together. Our friendship in that time has developed quite a personality, which we’re sure will come out in our videos.
You really couldn’t imagine two more different people to spend a year traveling together if you tried.
Toby’s one of the most opinionated and passionate people you’ll ever meet…about anything…but he’d give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Toby has a mind that works like few others do.
David is more of a go-with-the-flow kind of guy—a little goofy and quirky, but a natural socialite and outdoorsman. What else would you expect from a guy who’s spent the last four years running a camp?
The best way to get to know us is by watching our videos and following our travels. Nothing about what we’re doing is meant to be one-way communication. We want to hear from you and dialogue with you about this unique adventure. But more than anything, we want you to feel like you are traveling along with us on the journey.
Please ask questions—we welcome them. Nothing is off the table.
Please have a look around, and always send us your ideas for something better—be it the trip itself or the Global Encounter site.
